SUMMER-KITCHEN ADDITION
Any bread baker worth his/her yeast must admit if there is a new method by which to make bread, he's going to try it. Bob certainly knows his yeast and, while visiting California with wife Ann, he purchased a unique item - a wood-fired, New Hearth Oven. These dome-shaped patio ovens have been all the rage in southern California for some time now, and the trend out there is to roast chicken and veggies in them.
Bob saw bread instead of supper when he met up with these ovens; however, he didn't want to bake bread on his Pennsylvania patio only when the seasons permitted. So, while Bob's oven sat in a crate in the driveway, he and Ann and Gary baked up plans to house his oven in a brand-new but old-styled summer-kitchen, complete with walk-in fireplace, a small modern kitchenette, a fully outfitted office space disguised as a pantry closet, and plenty of open space for seating and dining - all within the confines of a little 1-room structure.
The best part of the entire project was on the day our fellows removed the oven from its crate. This new-fangled trendy oven is nothing more and nothing less than a time-honored PA-German bake oven made of pre-cast concrete! What's old is new, and what's new is old.
